PORTFOLIO AND ART SHOW

Portfolio Showcase

Did you know that you can enter the Portfolio and Art Showcase for FREE at our 4th Annual Writers and Illustrators Conference, September 15-16th, 2017? There will be a juried contest of the portfolios for Best in Show judged by Stephanie Pitts, editor at GP Putnam's Sons, imprint of Young Penguin Readers! Though she will be judging best portfolio for children/teen book art, we are happy to display art appropriate for any age book or book cover.

REGISTER HERE for the Portfolio and Art Show…it's free!

You don’t need to be registered for the conference to enter, and if you are outside the Anchorage-MatSu-Valley-Girdwood area, and are a SCBWI member, you can even send us your portfolio and we will enter it for you. If you are not a member, you can still enter, but you must drop it off yourself. (details below)

The Portfolio and Art Showcase is a HUGE opportunity for Alaskan illustrators to get their work in front of editors, agents, and authors looking for an illustrator. There will be about 140 people at the conference, some who will be self-publishing and need illustrators. We often get questions from authors on how to find illustrators. THIS IS A PLACE THEY CAN FIND YOU! One of our entrants last year was even commissioned to illustrate a picture book!

We would appreciate it if you'd let us know by August 31st so we know how many tables we will need. But you can register for the event up until September 14. We really hope you are going to show your work. We'd hate for you to miss out. REGISTER HERE (at no cost!).

What can you enter? A portfolio for sure, but you can also have one display piece as long as you bring some way to display it (i.e., a table or floor easel). One to two books are also welcome.

When and where do you drop it off? BP Center, Anchorage, on Friday, between 8:30 AM-6:00 PM. We will be having a free event open to the public that evening that includes the art show. But you can also bring it Saturday morning 7:45-8:15 AM.

Any questions? EMAIL: ALASKA-IC@SCBWI.ORG
